Games made with ChatGPT

ChatGPT is OpenAI's chat assistant, released on November 30, 2022, as a free research preview. It runs on the web, as a desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux, and on phones.

For a small game, you ask for a single HTML file in the chat. Code blocks have a Preview option that shows HTML pages and React components inside ChatGPT, so you can try the game before saving it. ChatGPT also generates images, with ChatGPT Images 2.5 since September 8, 2026, and OpenAI lists sprite sheets, backgrounds and UI assets among the uses.

With Sites, in public beta on the Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans, ChatGPT builds a game, hosts it and can share it at a public URL.

Bigger projects go to Codex, OpenAI's coding agent, which works inside the ChatGPT desktop app and at chatgpt.com/codex. As of September 2026, every ChatGPT plan includes Codex, Free included.
