An arcade video game is a game played on a coin-operated cabinet, and arcade-style games keep the same short, score-driven design. The core loop is a single run: survive as levels get harder, use up your lives, and try to beat your best score. The classic formula is easy to learn and difficult to master. Pong, Space Invaders and Pac-Man are classic examples.
The design rests on multiple lives, short levels, simple controls and difficulty that rises quickly. The code needs a tight game loop, fast input handling, a difficulty curve that climbs each level, and a quick restart after game over.
Browser versions run that loop on requestAnimationFrame, which pauses when the tab is hidden, and can keep the high score in localStorage so it survives a closed browser.
