A card game is any game that uses cards as its main device, whether the cards are a standard deck or made for that game. Digital versions cover classics such as solitaire, trick-taking games like Bridge, and digital collectible card games such as Hearthstone. The core loop is to hold a hand, choose which card to play, and respond to the other side until the rules declare a winner.
Card games are rules plus hidden information. The code models a deck, shuffles it, deals hands, keeps each player's cards private, and enforces turn order and legal plays. Collectible card games add deck building, resources such as mana, and card effects on the board.
On the web, pointer events handle mouse and touch with one set of events, which suits dragging cards, and the CSS touch-action property stops the page from scrolling mid-drag. Online play against people needs a server connection, such as a WebSocket.
