About Wagon Bones

Wagon Bones is a roguelike deckbuilder that swaps playing cards for d12 dice and a poker table for the Oregon Trail. Each travel day you draw eight dice from your pouch, roll them, and lock in up to five as a hand. Pips become miles, and you must hit the mile target before the days run out.

The scoring follows a chips-and-mult model, with equipment that triggers on conditions, trail guides that level up hand types, and one-use supply cards that enhance dice. Equipment effects resolve left to right, so the order you arrange them matters. Between rounds you pick from trail events, visit a shop, and face a boss with a special rule at the end of each leg. Professions and difficulty levels change the starting conditions.

A run covers eight legs from Independence, Missouri to Oregon City, and an endless mode continues past that. The creator says the project was built heavily with AI help, using GitHub Copilot and then Cursor. Dice and card art came from an image model. The game runs in the browser on Phaser.
