Devin Desktop is Cognition's AI code editor and the new name of Windsurf. Cognition renamed Windsurf through an over-the-air update on June 2, 2026, and windsurf.com now redirects to devin.ai/desktop. The FAQ calls it the same IDE with the same features, and plans, pricing and settings carried over.
It adds an Agent Command Center, a Kanban-style view for local and cloud agents. Devin Local replaces Cascade as the default local agent, and other agents such as Codex, Claude Agent and OpenCode run inside it through the Agent Client Protocol. For a web game, the built-in browser preview shows the rendered page, and MCP servers add tools.
As of September 2026, there is a free tier, and Pro costs $20 a month.
