Wicklight

You play a flame, and the shades hunting you die in light but are safe in shadow. Lighting is recomputed from your position every frame, so each pillar throws a wedge of darkness away from you. Shades can walk up that wedge untouched.

Keep moving with the mouse, because standing still stops your shadows from sweeping and gets you killed. Your light burns down over time. Wax that refuels it is scattered in the dark, usually where you can't see it. Running dry doesn't kill you, but it leaves your reach small while the room fills with shades.

Holding the left button charges the flame, pulling the light inward and giving up almost half your reach. Releasing sends it all outward in a flare that ignites every shade it can actually see. The flare still stops at pillars, so cover works against it too.

The game is scored, and a run lasts a few minutes. The creator describes it as one rule with everything else following from it. The code, text and graphics were made with heavy AI assistance, and the audio is synthesized live.
