Metal Assault

Run, jump and shoot through side-scrolling levels: Metal Assault is a single-player run-and-gun in the style of Metal Slug, played in the browser on an HTML5 canvas.

The repository states that Claude Fable built the whole game, assets included, and every asset comes from the code itself rather than from image or audio files. The pixel-art sprites, the levels, the sound effects and the music are all procedural, and the plain JavaScript runs directly in the browser, which keeps the project small and easy to open and read.

A hosted version plays straight from the page, with nothing to install. What you get there is the classic arcade loop: keep moving, keep jumping, and shoot the enemies in your way as the levels scroll by.
