About Ikuta '73

You play a college student in the summer of 1973, mowing lawns for your uncle's company in the hills west of Tokyo. The game is first-person and unhurried. You push the mower across yards, watch the sun move through a day cycle, and keep an eye on your stamina as the work goes on.

The sun drains your stamina and shade restores it, so you pick when to keep cutting and when to step out of the heat. Doing the job well can earn hospitality from the people you work for, such as something cold to drink, which gives bonus stamina. The idea comes from a Haruki Murakami short story, with Katamari Damacy and the Boku no Natsuyasumi series as further influences. A two-stick mower option is available for gamepad players.

It was made for AI Browser Game Jam 4 using Godot. The creator credits Claude Code with the code, sound effects, modeling, and level QA, and Grok Build with the title screen and lens flare code. Stuart Weiss of Plinth Games handled everything else. A session runs about half an hour.
