AI-made word games

Word games are spoken, board, card or video games designed to test ability with language or to explore its properties. The core loop is to form or guess words from letters and clues: Scrabble arranges letters into words, Hangman and Wordle guess a hidden word, and crosswords fill a grid from clues. Wordle, made by Josh Wardle and released in October 2021, gives players six tries to find a five-letter word.

A word game needs a word list to check guesses and a rule for scoring or feedback. Wordle shows green, yellow or gray feedback after each guess, which is letter-by-letter logic, and in a daily game every player gets the same puzzle, so the game picks one word per date.

In a browser, the Date object reads the date in the player's local time zone or in UTC, so a daily puzzle has to choose which day boundary decides when the word changes.
